Google Instant is the newest search enhancement that shows results as you type.
According to the Google Instant Q&A page, “The most obvious change is that you get to the right content much faster than before because you don’t have to finish typing your full search term, or even press “search.” Another shift is that seeing results as you type helps you formulate a better search term by providing instant feedback. You can now adapt your search on the fly until the results match exactly what you want.”
However, apart from the fancy, cool, new, catchy features Google Instant kills SEO and tends to favor big brands. In this article I am sharing my thoughts on Why Google Instant marks the end of the SEO era and how it does favor the big “guys”. I have also posted an introducing video, that I found from Youtube, of the new feature.
Although Google says that rankings stays the same, the issue is with what people see. The moment you type the first three letters, it would show up the established websites targeting those keywords. Therefore, a high probability is that a user will be intrigued to click on those URLs, even before completing they term they initially going for.
This update would be favorable to big and established companies. Will it eventually kill and put to waste the efforts of start-up companies in the process of establishing their keywords (and online presence) as well ???
There is no doubt that this new feature raises the bar for SEO. Google Instant will change the search behavior of users and this is what Internet marketeers and SEO specialists need to consider now. There is a change on the way Google Instant counts the impressions over Google ads and PPC Campaigns!
There are many things we will be discussing on this new feature and its effects on SEO and Internet Marketing in general. Stay in touch!
